Elk and Bison Prairie, KY

On a warm December day during winter break our family traveled to Elk and Bison Prairie at the Land Between the Lakes in KY. It is just under an hour away from Fort Campbell, making it an easy afternoon activity. There is $5.00 entrance fee per vehicle with a self pay station at the gate. The Elk and Bison Prairie showcases a native grassland habitat where elk and bison roam free within the 700 acre enclosure. You get to travel in your own vehicle (that has to be enclosed….sorry bikes and doorless Jeeps) on a 3.5 mile paved loop.

When we went both animal species were right next to the road, allowing for some amazing imagery. We even witnessed few elk bucks battling. You are allowed to exit vehicle, as long as the animals are certain distance away. But even if you choose to stay in the car, it is still a perfect place to practice your wildlife photography. Many other animals share this habitat; too bad we did not spot any.

Our girls had a blast and asked us to drive the loop one more time. The Elk and Bison Prairie is definitely a place our nature loving family will be visiting again.

Welcome to Eva Rose Photography Blog

Welcome.

I am Eva and I am so glad you made it to my blog. I am an artist, a business owner,  passionate photographer,  busy mom to our three girls, proud army wife and a vivid crafter. I was born and raised in the Czech Republic and you can still hear my Czech accent in my voice. And yes, English is my second language, so forgive me if some of my sentences sound a bit off.

My husband’s military career took us from the beautiful foliage of New Hampshire through Texas hill country  to the desert of El Paso, TX and finally to the Kentucky bluegrass. Out of all the places we had lived, I miss central Texas the most.

As a family we love to travel and experience new places. We would rather drive than fly and  we would rather sit around campfire under clear skies than in a hotel in front of TV. We like to spend time outdoors and nothing makes our girls happier than to be able to observe animals in their native habitats. Unless, of course, they get to pet goats 🙂

We have three beautiful girls; our oldest Evicka is 10 years old and she is the best big sister to our three year old twins Julia and Veronica.

Come back to my blog soon to read all about our past, present and future adventures.

Here are some images from our last trip to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. If you ever have a chance…go…sledding in the summer on the softest sand I have ever felt.
